Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 10:00PM
Hey Everybody, John writing ya!
Thought I'd give a quick pictorial update on my latest project (click here for the previous update) over at Russian River. Here's an aerial photo of the site at the beginning of the project (9-29-10).

And here it is one month later (10-28-10)...

Last weekend the area had its first rainstorm, see the project with river overtopping the vanes and onto flood terrace....See how the thalweg has changed

And you all can go to the webcam to see the river TODAY!! Just click refresh and viola - you are there

I just checked out the Caltrans live feed (http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/128russianriver/) and boy did your project pass the test. This past winter was huge and the site looks great. I especially like the deposition filling in along bank from slower, high-flow water in this area; live siltation growing; willow poles and vanes in place; new fish habitat, etc. Assumming the willow poles survived the extended flooding, this should look real nice by the end of summer and in years to come.
