    STREAM SUMMIT AGENDA FOR OCT. 19th to 21st, 2016. 

    This is going to be an interesting and interactive summit. It is set up so 1/2 day Wednesday in the AM can be used for travel to Redding, Thursday will be a full day, and Friday the workshop will end at Noon so you will have time to travel home. 


    STREAM SUMMIT SCHEDULE


    Wednesday 10/19

    1:00 to 4:30 pm Shasta College Downtown Campus - Room 8220 North-end of Downtown Mall (Free parking downtown parking garage off California St.)
    - Water and Soda provided
    1:00 - 1:15 pm Registration, sign-up sheets, form 3-4 groups
    Introductions and handouts, Thanks to sponsors (RoLanka, Filtrexx and Lynn Friesner)

    1:15 - 2:15 pm Presentation 1. - Environmentally-Sensitive Methods, - John will demonstrate the "design guidance manual you will receive on DC. Topics include: Geyserville Bridge Project, self-launching rock, re-directive methods vs riprap, working in live streams w/ no turbidity and more
    2:15 - 2:30 pm BREAK - grab a soda
    2:30 - 3:30 pm Presentation 2. - Eric - Watershed process-based restoration
    3:30 – 4:30 pm Presentation 3. - John - Bioengineering Topics, Bank stabilization, Stream Repair, CEM, and hydromodification solutions, Proper Functioning Condition. Case Study - Lucas Creek, New Zealand

    Thursday 10/20

    Cafeteria is building south of the Bookstore and near Quad. Main (north) parking lot is closest.

    8:00 - 8:30 am Welcome, group intros, maps of Stillwater Creek
    - intro to Chris H.
    8:40 – 9:40 am Presentation 4. - Chris - Engineering principles and more.
    BREAK  
    10:00 – 10:45 am Presentation 5. - Eric - Plug and pond stream restoration projects in Idaho
    10:45 - 12:00 pm Panel discussion - John, Eric, Chris, all –
    - Restoration project permit challenges and solutions
    12:00 – 12:45 pm LUNCH, visiting, networking, talking to sponsors
    12:45 – 2:00 pm Presentation 7. - John - More on local 'eastern Shasta' streams, processes, Incision, local aggradations and Avulsion Erosion, in Cow Creek, Oak Run Creek, Stillwater Creek. Sub-watershed report summary w/ maps on Stillwater Creek.
    2:00 – 2:30 pm Go out to EC Facility and Creek
    • Participate in Biotechnical Bank Stabilization Demo, cut willow branches, bundle, help wrap coir and geo grid, build living walls with Compost socks etc.
    • White Board discussions, Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) primer
      Break into "Design Groups"
    • Walk Stream, preliminary assessment, and conceptual design
    5:00 pm Day ends


    Friday 10/21

    7:30 am -12:30 pm Meet at Stillwater Creek / EC Training Facility BYOC (Bring Your Own Caffeine) – Park near Big Oak / Tables
    7:30 – 8:00 am sign up sheet, Evaluate Bank Protection demo
    8:30 – 10:30 am  Creek Walk / Assessment all the way upstream to McConnell / College boundary. Groups design reparation/restoration, prepare conceptual plans by stations
    11:00 – 12:30 pm Groups present conceptual plans to all
    - Wrap up Discussions
